The Philosopher and the Wolf

I just came across this article, an apparent excerpt from a book titled, 'The Philosopher and the Wolf: Lessons from the Wild on Love, Death and Happiness' by Mark Rowlands. The book is available for pre-order from Amazon.

I guess that you can compare this book to Marley and Me, by John Grogan, but I have a hunch that Marley won't hold a candle to Brenin, the dog from this story.

I hope to get to read this book. The article is very touching, and reminds me of the different relationships that I have had with the dogs I've known.

Here's a picture of the Wolf and Human.

Check out PhotoFunia.com, which is a pretty interesting website which allows you to upload a photo of your head/face and have your face automatically inserted into all sorts of silly pics. Here's one example.

Aimee Mann is like a female Neil Finn

Which means she kicks absolute ass as a songwriter and a performer.

I'm at work, taking a quick break, but I'm listening to Aimee while I'm trudging through some reading and writing I've gotta do (boring details left out because, well, they're boring). I've got most of her stuff, and haven't listened to it for a while. Got energized to hit it again after hearing her super-terrific song "Freeway" from her newest CD, @#%&*! SMILERS which, by the way, is super-terrific. Did I mention that? Thank God she's not still doing 'Til Tuesday...

Anyway, I think very highly of Neil Finn as a songwriter, lyricist, and performer. Neil was with Split Endz for a while, then with Crowded House, then by himself, then back with Crowded House. Neil's stuff holds up like a concrete house. Reminds me of how some of Tom Petty's stuff holds up, but better. Anyway, Aimee is like a version of Neil Finn in a bra -- she's definitely her own person, has her own style, and kicks ass only like she can.

Her songs are thoughtful, deceptively/wickedly clever, and always please. I haven't heard one that I don't like. So, go listen, y'all.

Not really, but it's a very cool photo.

Halloween night, I put about six too many sticks of fatwood on the fire to get it going. I had people in the house scared to come outside.

I'd like to tell you I meant to do this, in a homage to George Goble (Chip, that's for you) but I really didn't have it planned.

BUT, I know what I'm doing next time. That's right. CONTEST.

See you in the burn ward.
